That makes him the perfect person to help others navigate the unique challenges that come with being homeless: how to get to medical appointments, fill out applications for food stamps, or collect the COVID-19 stimulus checks from the federal government.

The Stamford-based Pacific House Emergency Homeless Shelter held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate its recent renovation.

Clients of Pacific House, the city’s homeless shelter for men, will soon leave the Super 8 hotel where they were moved at the start of the pandemic to increase distancing.

In 1982, an emergency shelter opened its doors in the form of a makeshift shelter in the basement of the First Congregational Church in Stamford.
