Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), Pacific House reaffirms our commitment to creating a diverse, inclusive community where everyone has access to safe, affordable housing. We honor the rich cultural tapestry of Hispanic communities and their invaluable contributions to our society.
At Pacific House, breaking down barriers is central to our mission. We recognize that homelessness affects people from all walks of life, including many in the Hispanic community. Language barriers and cultural differences can add extra layers of difficulty to an already challenging situation.
Our outreach team includes Spanish-speaking members, crucial for helping Hispanic individuals transition off the streets. This bilingual capability extends throughout our organization - from case managers to executives. We're proud that our linguistic diversity mirrors our community, allowing us to provide respectful, comprehensive assistance to everyone we serve, regardless of their primary language.

In many Hispanic cultures, the concept of "familismo" - the emphasis on strong family ties - is central. This aligns perfectly with Pacific House's community-focused approach. We understand that a stable home is not just about four walls and a roof; it's about preserving family unity, cultural traditions, and dignity.

At Pacific House, we envision a future where stable, affordable housing is accessible to all, regardless of cultural or linguistic background. As the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo once said, "I paint my own reality." At Pacific House, we're working to paint a reality where everyone has a place to call home.
And in the spirit of encouragement, we share this Spanish proverb: "El hogar está donde está el corazón." (Home is where the heart is.)
Thank you for your continued support in making this vision a reality.
