A Boost from the Paris 2024 Olympics

While the housing crisis remains a pressing issue, Pacific House also benefits from the incredible support of our community partners in addressing food insecurity. As reported by Connecticut Public Radio, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have positively impacted food donations in Fairfield County.

Food Rescue US-Fairfield County, in collaboration with NBC Sports in Stamford, has been instrumental in ensuring food supplies remain steady throughout the summer months. With NBC employees covering the Olympics abroad, surplus food from their cafeteria has been redirected to local nonprofits, including Pacific House. This partnership has resulted in nearly 5,000 pounds of food donated to the community this year.

Karen Saggese, Co-Site Director for Food Rescue US-Fairfield County, highlights the importance of consistent corporate partnerships in filling the gap during slower donation periods.

Her dedication to reducing food waste and helping those in need is evident in each delivery she makes. Saggese's commitment to creating meaningful change is an inspiring reminder of the power of community collaboration.
